hololive SUPER EXPO 2025 Report [Part 2]: A Festival of VTuber Culture Enjoyed With All Five Senses

COVER Corporation’s hololive production held its largest event of the year, hololive SUPER EXPO 2025 Supported By BANDAI/hololive 6th fes. Color Rise Harmony (live concert), on March 8th and 9th, 2025, at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Halls.

Part 2 of this COVERedge three-series continues on from Part 1 with more interviews with booth representatives giving us insight into their exhibits. We hope to provide you with all the details behind the scenes, such as the characteristics of each booth from a management perspective, any happy moments that may have occurred, and our future prospects.

Treasuring Unity and Memories: A Diversity of Booths Creating a True Arcade Experience

⑦ENigmatic Recollection

The Libestal Castle and Sanctuary designs drew visitors to the exhibit, giving them a sense of what it felt like to be a part of the story. Story details were displayed, allowing avid fans to read more about the settings, characters, and dwell in the actual stories that happened in the first Chapter, which aired back in September 2024. Standees featured the hololive English talents proudly donning their Libestal Cloaks.

Q. What did you put extra detail into for the exhibits so visitors could enjoy the most out of hololive English?

As the EXPO is held in Japan, some people will not be familiar with the event culture here. However, we wanted to create an experience where visitors could feel like they were in that world rather than just introduce the content to those who were entirely new. We made sure that this was an exhibit where fans could feel the nostalgia and bring back fond memories when they visited for themselves.

Q. ENigmatic Recollection Chapter 2 has been released this month. We’re already at the edge of our seats to see future developments of this project!

I believe that the biggest appeal of this project was the unexpected developments (sometimes emotional, and other times humorous), combined with an original story, lore, and tales that arise from the talents’ freedom to express themselves.
At this year’s EXPO, we felt real passion from the fans, which made me even more conscious that we must work together to continue hyping up the community.
Moving forward, we would like to create even more amazing content where fans are not just bystanders in these stories, but actively involved as a part of the world.

⑧holoCard in Wonderland

The hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME (hereinafter holoCards) booth, holoCard in Wonderland, was a whimsical journey, a seamless blend of hololive and Alice in Wonderland. While the giant card display, dramatically suspended from the ceiling, was a major eyecatcher amongst the booths, the card game class, and giveaways of a special cheer card and sample deck were also charming souvenirs that fans could take home.

Q. Please tell us about the concept of the booth and what went into its making.

Firstly, to adopt the concept of Alice in Wonderland, we needed to put great detail into staging: things like making small things look gigantic, and building a space where one could feel a sense of wonder at first sight. Secondly, we had the challenge of expanding a domain unique to holoCards. Currently, the cards are centered around the talents’ activities and personalities, but in the future, we want to take on a new challenge of bringing out new aspects and stories of talents by incorporating distinguishing themes and concepts.

Q. What was an instance in EXPO that left a deep impression on you?

I once again felt the warmth of the hololive community. There were a lot of posts on social media of fans coming to EXPO and interacting with each other, some of whom discovered and became a fan of hololive because of holoCards through social media. Seeing more experienced fans showing first-timers the ropes and introducing them to the community was really impactful.
One of our goals as producers was to introduce people to hololive through holoCards, come to like the content, and to grow the community together as fans. Seeing this becoming a reality before my eyes gave me a sense of pride and reward for the commitment I had put into this project.

⑨Mochipoyo-chan

Mochipoyo-chan was created in 2023 as an original character project, with the concept of being cute and lovable. In this booth, we created a fully immersive photo space with themed designs on all the walls and floors, making it feel as if visitors were transported to the world of Mochipoyo-chan. Fans were scrambling to the interactive exhibits that could be touched and felt, such as the gigantic Mochipoyo-chan plush and the Mochipoyo Wall, in which lots of planning went into creating their textures. Many fans were posting on social media, using the hashtag #もちぽよちゃん (#mochipoyochan), pictures of their oshi’s plushie at the plushie photospot we had set up with a Mochipoyo-chan plush.

Q. What was the response like from fans?

We had all kinds of fans coming and enjoying the soft sensation of the gigantic Mochipoyo-chan plushie and Mochipoyo Wall. This booth was originally targeted at women, so we were worried about how men, who make up the majority of fans at EXPO, would feel about it. Still, we were happy that we had a constant line of people over the two days, and fans of all demographics could enjoy the exhibit.
It seemed that the Mochipoyo Wall was particularly impactful, as many visitors briefly came to lay their hands on it as they passed by, making it a great meet-up spot for fans. I was glad to see people responding positively to the many autographs from hololive members who were not included in the Mochipoyo-chan designs around the exhibit. We had an astounding 2,383 responses to the questionnaire set in three locations of the booth, and we have high hopes to expand the variety of content, such as merchandise and anime.

Q. Where did the idea for the plushie photospot, which seemed popular among fans, come from?

We recalled seeing many fans taking pictures of their oshi’s plushes with the gigantic Mochipoyo at the previous EXPO, so we asked our events team at the end of last year if we could create a photo spot with a special stand just for fans put their plushes on to take pictures, knowing it was too much to ask with the time available. However, despite the short notice, we had a spot for fans to take pictures in such a popular and adorable space. We were extremely grateful that we were able to pull it off thanks to them!

⑩holoplus ARCADE

“All about your Oshi. One app.” The concept of holoplus ARCADE, the booth for the official hololive production app holoplus, was a cool-looking arcade with an abundance of vibrant lights and neon signs, with an animated logo as the centerpiece. The community notebook placed in the booth was scattered with heartwarming messages for the app, oshis, and Harusaki Nodoka, the publicity manager of holoplus.

Q.  What was your focus when designing this booth?

As well as building an atmosphere that everyone can enjoy within such a limited space, we aimed to make it one that promotes communication and where memories can be left. We placed a “communication notebook” that is a familiar sight at arcades in the booth as well, through which not only did the management team express to users their gratitude and excitement for the future, but we were so happy to receive so many messages of support for the management team as well!

Q. What was the response like from fans?

I felt that there were even more people than last year bringing their beloved oshi plushies with them to this year’s EXPO. Thanks to all the fans, the plushie photo spot was a big hit and the whole team enjoyed and got so much energy from seeing all of the photos taken and posted to holoplus and on X. We were able to feel the warmth and the excitement from the holoplus community this year and we are so thankful. Please look out for some of the bold new updates we have planned this year to further increase the ways you can enjoy holoplus!

⑪hololive Official YouTube Channel Membership (Wallpaper Gallery)

The hololive Official YouTube Channel Membership booth was a wallpaper gallery that showed off the vivid colors of the talents. These wallpapers are the same as the ones offered digitally, but enlarged for a clearer view of every stunning detail. The illustrations were minimally edited with color adjustments to bring out the life of the prints, and talents had even graced them with their signatures, making the gallery a must-stop spot for fans looking out for their oshi’s autographs.

Q. What was the response like from the fans? Were there any incidents that were unexpected?

We set out to make the booth a “relaxing place to chill out” within the arcade, but it was unexpected to see so many fans stop by to take a look. We were glad that the booth was such a success, with all the fans coming to take pictures: their joyous facial expressions left quite an impression on us.
We also had feedback from our community questionnaire with people wanting more pictures of the venue, so after discussing it internally, we posted photos of talent standees (panels) and the signature walls from the venue for the members community, which received an overwhelmingly positive response.

Q. Was there anything unique to EXPO that you discovered?

The hidden messages on the back of standees from other talents written by talents themselves days before the event was such an interesting detail unique to our EXPO! When talents mentioned this on chatting streams before the event, this instantly went to the top of the list of things fans wanted to see, with many fans commenting “I want to see that!” in membership questionnaires. We hope that fans who couldn’t make it to this year’s EXPO or couldn’t get around to seeing everything while they were there enjoyed these photos.

⑫HOUSE OF FLOW GLOW EXPO 2025 ver.

HOUSE OF FLOW GLOW EXPO 2025 ver. was a reimagining of FLOW GLOW’s pop-up space in Harajuku held back in November 2024, their debut month. New messages from the members adorned the booth, with fans, decked out in their striking cosplays and long-sleeved tees sold when they debuted, flocking over to show their support for the girls.

Q. Tell us about the concept and theme of the booth and anything that left an impression on you.

Through all our events held, seeing the number of people who have become fans of our talents and passion they put into enjoying our content gives us the energy and motivation to continue striving to deliver new content. FLOW GLOW will continue to improve their rap skills and deliver even more content that will both surprise and delight fans, and DEV_IS will continue to release a wide range of new and improved music-based content in a variety of forms, so be on the lookout for what’s to come.

Q. This was FLOW GLOW’s first EXPO, having debuted in November 2024, but are there features you pay special attention to for someone’s first appearance?

We definitely wanted to have FLOW GLOW build up hololive production’s biggest event of the year with the customary EXPO “walking tour,” FLOW GLOW WALKING RADIO – We Tried Overtaking EXPO! -. In addition to the exhibit, we hope that people were able to enjoy the banter and relationship the five members have with each other on the livestream that not only livened up the venue but got more people interested in their individual and unit activities.

The Excitement that Interactive Content Brings is What a Festival is All About!

At this year’s EXPO, we focused on livening up the ‘fan experience’ for each booth, by having fans play the same games as their oshi and immerse themselves in the lore of each project. The interviews from each booth representative showed how surprised and grateful they were for how lively EXPO was: particularly how moved they were by the fans’ passion, how responses exceeded expectations, and how fans interacted with each other.

What was also really noticeable is how active our wonderful fans are in building the community and not just passively viewing our content through conversing with each other while waiting in line and getting creative with merch such as their oshi plushies. Not only that, but the atmosphere of a festival could truly be felt with so many overseas fans in attendance, with interactions not being hindered by language barriers.

Check out what attendees had to say about the event in Part 3 of this series.
