Corporate Value Renewal! The New Values Set For Global Expansion

*This article was originally posted on COVER’s note on July 11, 2024.

A warm welcome to all those who read our notes! Thank you so much for your immense love and support for COVER Corporation.
It has been eight years since COVER Corporation was established. With the mission "Together, Let's Create Culture Loved by All" in mind; the employees have continued to take on new challenges as one since the day COVER Corporation started.
In preparation for the full-scale global expansion just around the corner, we have renewed our values to lay the foundation for everyone in COVER to unite and be dynamic. In this note, we will introduce the new values and report on how they were unveiled to all employees!

◾️ The announcement of the three new values

During the second general meeting of members of COVER Corporation held on May 14, 2024, President Tanigo presented the new values that I will explain below.

(1)Bold-spirited

(2)United without boundaries

(3)Outcome driven

Mr. Tanigo encouraged  employees to “think about how we can bring more joy to our customers while implementing new ideas, create even more excitement, take on challenges courageously, and pursue results through working with different people in areas beyond the boundaries of their team.”

◾️ The guiding principles of each value: Dos/Don’ts

For every employee to embody the values, words alone are not enough; action guidelines are necessary. We have also renewed the “Dos and don’ts” guidelines of each value. I’ll share a few of them!

・To be bold-spirited.

To be bold-spirited.

Proceed with your own hypotheses,
rather than thoughtlessly doing as you’re told.
The creation of new value only becomes evident.
when you think and act autonomously.

・To unite without boundaries.

By all means, it’s important to fulfill your own duties.
However, there are limits to what can be accomplished through that alone.
in order to continually create new value,
you must boldly attempt things that you can’t achieve on your own.

・To be outcome driven.

To be outcome driven.

When you try and don’t get the results you seek, you’ll find the greatest opportunities.
Focusing on what you learned from the experience and
how you’ll apply it in the future, rather than on whose fault it was,
is the shortest route to achieving results.

These are some of the examples that I will introduce for this article. I believe that if every employee is aware of these actions, it will lead to embodying the company’s values as a whole.

◾️ Employees are appointed as the ambassadors of these values!

社員全員がバリューのアンバサダーに!

At the general employee meeting, where we unveiled our new values, we held a workshop called “Let’s put these new values into practice!”

Since we created these values, we want our employees to not only understand them at surface value but to experience and recognize them deeper! This workshop allowed employees to interact while exchanging opinions about values.

Before the workshop began, Mr. Tanigo appeared on stage once more. In response to the host’s question, “What changes do you expect with the new values?” Mr. Tanigo responded, “The new values will not only be in Japanese but also in English. Under one shared value, we want to create entertainment that is appreciated by fans from all over the world, no matter where they come from.
He also revealed that a U.S. branch office will be established.

As the workshop began, employees chose between the three values, “Bold-spirited,” “United without boundaries,” and “Outcome driven,” and were divided into three teams. They were then split into groups of four to five to discuss these two points: “What specific actions or words embody these values,” and “Why do you think so?”

While some groups engaged in serious discussions, others digressed and engaged in small talk. Overall, everyone was relaxed, and conversations were lively. Groups were formed twice with different people to exchange opinions, which allowed employees to interact with those they do not usually speak to. There was also a segment to experience the values physically by asking everyone to “strike a pose that they think embodies the value.”

At the end of the workshop, the hosts appointed all the employees as ambassadors of the values they had chosen. Special badges with the words “Bold-spirited,” “United without boundaries,” and “Outcome driven” printed on them were handed out to employees in the respective teams, and the workshop ended off with an encouragement to work hard while embodying the values they chose starting tomorrow.

◾️ Lastly.

We have renewed our values, but the mission of COVER Corporation will remain the same. Our mission since the establishment of the company has always been,

“Together, Let’s Create Culture Loved by All”

With our new values, all of us at COVER Corporation will work together to spread our message not only in Japan but worldwide. We hope that you continue to support and watch our growth!
